may 15th is the official opening of the copper river salmon season. while no fish was available last year due to reduction in fish number caused by overfishing the previous years. this year it is said fishermen can catch up to 77ooo fish, a reduction of 3000 fish annualy over the last decade to protect future supply. this fish is highly prized because of its limited supply and highly sought after due to its high omega 3 fatty acid contents.

In the small community of Santa Cruz we have several awesome natural food stores that have been suppling us with great organic and local foods for many years. Whole Foods has been trying to break into our market for years and has finally succeeded by opening not one but TWO new super stores in our area.
